M Bromobenzaldehyde

The following aldehydes may be condensed in similar manner to the above procedure to give the corresponding substituted 9-benzal-fluorene of the indicated melting point. o-Tolualdehyde, m.p. 109.5° p-chlorobenzaldehyde, m.p. 149.5° w-chlorobenzaldehyde, m.p. 90.5° and m-bromobenzaldehyde, m.p. 92-93°. [Pg.207]

Benzaldehyde, 3-bromo- Benzaldehyde, m-bromo- 3-Bromobenzaldehyde m-Bromobenzaldehyde EINECS 221-526-9 NSC 66828. Liquid bp = 234° Xm = 245, 291 nm (s = 6500, 790, MeOH) insoluble in H2O, slightly soluble in CCI4, very soluble in EtOH, Et20. [Pg.81]

The effect of hydrotropes on the crossed Cannizzaro reaction rate of benzaldehydes with aqueous formaldehyde was investigated [67]. In the presence of polyethyleneglycol-200 the reaction rate of w-phenoxybenzalde-hyde increases more than six-fold and the w-phenoxybenzyl alcohol is also obtained with higher selectivity. The enhancement of the reaction rate of m-bromobenzaldehyde is lower than that observed for m-phenoxybenzaldehyde but the reaction selectivity is higher. p-Anisaldehyde and p-chlorobenzalde-hyde show an intermediate behavior. The cationic surfactants cetylpyri-dinium chloride and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) favor the Cannizzaro reaction instead of the crossed Cannizzaro one. [Pg.239]

P 55] Before synthesis, a micro-mixing tee chip micro reactor (Figure 4.85) (with two mixing tees and four reservoirs) was primed with anhydrous tetrahydrofuran (THF). A 40 gl volume of a 0.1 M solution of tetrabutylammonium fluoride trihydrate in anhydrous THF is filled into one reservoir of a micro-mixing tee chip reactor [15], 40 gl of a 0.1 M solution of 4-bromobenzaldehyde in anhydrous THF is added to a second reservoir, 40 gl of a 0.1 M solution of the silyl enol ether (masking the enolate of a carbonyl compound such as cyclohexanone) in anhydrous THF is added to a third reservoir and anhydrous TH F is filled into the fourth collection reservoir. Electrical fields of417,455,476 and 0 V cm are applied to transport the reaction species from the respective reservoirs. The reaction is carried out at room temperature. [Pg.529]

Bromobenzaldehyde and triphenylphosphine were purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. Benzeneboronic acid and palladium acetate were obtained from Lancaster Synthesis. Sodium carbonate was purchased from EM Science and deionized water was used to prepare the 2 M solution. Reagent grade 1-propanol is available from Mallinkrodt Inc. All reagents and solvents are used without purification or degassing. There was no need to dry the glassware rigorously. [Pg.175]
