Lycodine and Related Alkaloids

The work of Moore and Marion showed that 7-methyl quinoline and 

7- methylquinoline over Pd-C and that lycopodine and the obscurines could easily arise from a common biogenetic precursor. Structures CXXXII-A and CXXXIII were, therefore, compatible with the known chemistry of the obscurines. 

In the same year Anet and Rao 20) succeeded in converting lycopodine into lycodine, thereby verifying structures CXXXII-A, CXXXIII, and CXXXIV-A and at the same time defining their stereochemistry. -Cyanobromolycopodine (LIV) was converted to the azide and reduced
