In summary, we may say that by studying ferric low-spin compounds of hemoglobin and other heme proteins, we have been able to demonstrate that information concerning the structure of these compounds may be obtained by EPR experiments and that a knowledge of the structure enables one to understand more fully the role of these compounds in physiological processes.
