The molecule S2O2 was discovered by Lovas et al. in 1974 using microwave spectroscopy [55]. Reports about a disulfurdioxide in the older literature (before 1960) are erroneous since the species actually investigated was S2O (mixed with SO2). Therefore, these pubhcations are dealt with above.
