Lost Work Reduction by the Use of a Turbine

The theoretical maximum amount of work (Wturbine) that can be obtained from the turbine is given by the following expression  

The savings, therefore, are 0.32 MJ/kg PE. The original loss was (see Table 11.4) 0.56 MJ/kg PE for the HP flash, which means that 0.24 MJ/kg PE will still be lost. A noteworthy point, however, is that turbines do not exist yet that can operate at these kind of conditions.
