Hedley-Whyte et al. (1968) have studied the suitability of tritiated cholesterol as a long-term tracer in the nervous system. Mice were injected with a mixture of cholesterol-1,2- H and cholesterol-4- and the ratio of to C was analyzed in whole tissue and in the cholesterol isolated from the brain up to 75 days after the injection. The finding of no change in the H ratio indicated that the label remains stable for that period of time. [Pg.12]

Perfluorocarbon Tracer Gas Technique (PFT) - An air infiltration measurement technique developed by the Brookhaven National Laboratory to measure changes over time (one week to five months) when determining a building s air infiltration rate.
