Lithium diphenylarsenide

Similarly, the chloroalkylarsine (15) (obtained from lithium diphenylarsenide and 1,2-dichloroethane) reacts with lithium diphenylphosphide to form the mixed phosphine-arsine (16).14... [Pg.3]

Caution. Lithium diphenylarsenide and lithium diphenylphosphide are strong bases and very corrosive, and contact of them with the skin should be avoided. Hydrolysis of both compounds is vigorous and generates the malodorous and toxic secondary arsine or phosphine. Hence these experiments should be conducted in a fume hood. The products and the intermediates are also toxic and should be handled with due care. All manipulations should be done under nitrogen. [Pg.189]

Lithium diphenylarsenide and lithium diphenylphosphide solutions in THF are prepared as described in Sec. A. [Pg.191]

Debromination. Reaction of 1,2-dibromoethylene (cis/trans = 64 36) in refluxing THF with 2 moles of lithium diphenylphosphide gives acetylene in 80% yield. This debromination also occurs with lithium diphenylarsenide. ... [Pg.341]

Lithium dimethyl cuprate, 209-215 Lithium diphenylarsenide, 341 Lithium diphenyl cuprate, 234 Lithium diphenylphosphide, 340-341, 645 Lithium diphenylphosphinate, 340 Lithium di-n-propyl cuprate, 245 Lithium ethynyltrialkylborates, 324-325 Lithium fluoride, 17... [Pg.377]

Potassium diphenylarsenide-2-dioxane reacts with (—)-menthyl chloride in boiling tetrahydrofuran to give (lS,2S,5i )-( + )-neomenthyldiphenylarsine, (S)-( + )-175 (neo-menars). The arsine was obtained as colourless needles in ca 40% yield after recrystallization from warm methanol (Table 9). The neomenthylarsine, upon reaction with benzyl bromide in benzene, affords the epimeric (li ,2S,5i )-benzylmenthylarsonium bromide, (i H-f-)-176, which, upon reduction with lithium aluminium hydride, affords (l/t,2S,5K)-diphenylmenthylarsine, (J )-( — )-177 (menars) (equation 25). [Pg.145]
