Liquid coupled ultrasonic nebulizer

The principle of the liquid coupled ultrasonic nebulizer is shown in Figure 38. The sample solution is held in contact with the coupling liquid (usually water) by a diaphragm. The ultrasonic vibrations are focused by a concave crystal through the coupling medium to the sample. The sample mist formed is swept away to the burner by a carrier gas (air).
