Lipid Concentration in the Infusion Solution

Ionization of these clusters is very complicated from a few aspects as follows  

From the biophysical chemistry point of view, use of the concentration of the infusion solution as a variable could allow one to determine the formation of aggregates from identical or different lipid species, and to study chemical or physical properties of lipid molecules with the competition for proton, small matrix cation, or anion among lipid molecules in a lipid class or molecules in different lipid classes. In practice, a continuous variation of lipid concentration can be achieved with a gradient mixer. In general, titration of lipid concentration in both shotgun lipidomics and LC-MS analysis for determination of the linear dynamic range is always practiced, which is further discussed in Chapter 15.
