Limitations and considerations of fault tree analysis

Fault tree analysis is highly effective in determining how combinations of events and failmes can cause specific system failures, however, the technique has three main limitations  [Pg.110]

An important concept of fault tree analysis is that all the events and subevents are independent of each other. So for example in the CIRIA 152 fault tree the cause of ventilation cannot be dependent on a factor that also causes ignition (i.e. entry into the cupboard). [Pg.110]

Fault tree analysis can be useful when undertaking Part 2A risk assessment for ground gas. Gas migration can be modelled using the equations and approaches [Pg.110]
