A number of aliphatic series of trifluoromethylated and perfluoroalkylated auxiliaries and ligands have been proposed. Here again, both the strong electron-withdrawing effect and steric bulkiness of the trifluoromethyl group play an essential role for rate enhancement and stereocontrol.
