Forman s life-writings narrate his first forty years, the period for which few papers survive. During these years Forman outfitted himself with the skills and attitudes with which he was equipped when he settled in London in 1591 and embarked on his career as a notorious astrologer-physician. In order to tell the story of Forman s childhood thirst for knowledge, ill-fated possession of books, and study of the occult, I first need to establish the dates and contents of each of the six texts which Forman devoted solely to his own life.

Interview a successful person. Ask that person questions about his or her early years and about how he or she became successful. Ask questions about that person s present work life. Write an essay discussing the keys to his or her success. Compare and contrast levels of engagement and enthusiasm early and late in the person s career. 

Define half-life. Write the equation relating the half-life of a first-order reaction to the rate constant. 

But still the confusion continued. Despite Blane s unequivocal statement concerning the effectiveness of fresh fruit and despite the great weight of practical evidence in its favour, the Board of Sick and Hurt Seamen rejected this and other suggestions by physicians that the provision of fresh fruit would solve the scurvy problem. Other nutritional solutions continued to be championed. Beer, molasses, fresh bread, all found their proponents. In the nature of medical trials and particularly uncontrolled trials, these and other remedies sometimes produced apparent cures. Even Gilbert Blane on his return to civilian life, writing in Observations on the Diseases of Seamen , was convinced of the antiscorbutic activity of other foods, including, particularly, molasses. 

Declining balance-straight-line method This employs the declining balance during early years and the straight-line method in later years. It has some utility where service life of equipment is debatable, and yet allows faster early-life write-offs.
