The laws and punishment regarding possession of poppers in the United States vary from state to state. In some states, it is illegal to inhale any type of fumes for the purpose of intoxication. For example, in New York, possession or use of any alkyl nitrite, including amyl, butyl, and isobutyl, is a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a jail term of up to one year. The judge also has other punishment options, including imposing a fine and driver s license suspension or revocation. In Connecticut, conviction for possession of amyl nitrite without a prescription carries a penalty for a first offense of up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to 50,000. The maximum penalty for a second conviction is 15 years in prison and a fine of 100,000. [Pg.49]

License suspension or revocation can occur if the healthcare professional acknowledges a substance abuse problem. [Pg.44]

For suspension nasal drops the label should bear the warning Shake well before use . This applies also to the many licensed suspension nasal sprays that are on the market. For these preparations it is important to shake first and only then start pumping. Doing this in the right order prevents clogging of the tube of the atomiser. Thixotropic suspension nasal sprays should be shaken vigorously in order to transform a thick suspension into liquid as it will spray only when it becomes liquid. [Pg.150]

When the FDA inspects a facility and finds situations of objectionable conditions or practices, at the conclusion of the inspection they issue a Form 483. This represents a list of GMP concerns in the judgment of the inspector. By monitoring 483s, which are public record, companies can maintain currency in GMP. Warnings letters can also be issued by the FDA. They represent concerns not only of an investigator, but of District and/or Center compliance officers. Possible repercussions include product recall, seizure, injunction, monetary fine, debarment, disqualification, license suspension or revocation, prosecution, or denial of access to United States market for foreign suppliers. [Pg.168]

Given the less-than-expected effects of license suspension, several jurisdictions around the world impound vehicles or license plates after their owners have committed repeated or serious offences. The strategy seems to be more effective than license suspension in reducing crashes, though it does create various logistics problems (Cooper et al. 2000 Voas et aL, 2004. See Chapter 11). [Pg.744]
