It is worth using colors for the different Fe oxides and these should be mnemonic and of course, the same on all graphs, namely, black for magnetite, red for hematite, brown for ferrihydrite, yellow for goethite and orange for lepidocrocite (Schwertmann, 1993). [Pg.159]

Lepidocrocite (yFeOOH) is less frequent than goethite or hematite and it occurs in poorly drained soils where it forms from oxidation of Fe hydroxy compounds (Schwertmann and Taylor, 1977). It displays an orange color (Schwertmann, 1988). [Pg.132]
