Lenticular lens

This CFX leads to problems. After the surface is covered with CFx,it is no longer wet by the electrolyte and the low-energy configuration shows the formation of lenticular (lens-shaped) bubbles as shown in Fig. 7. These bubbles cover perhaps 95% of the surface10 and greatly reduce anode contact with the electrolyte. 

The magnesite occurs as massive bodies, lenticular (lens-shaped) masses, and veins of varying thickness.

Opaque deposits in the cornea and lens may occur with chronic phenothi-azine treatment, especially with CPZ. Although visual acuity is not usually affected, periodic slit-lamp examinations are recommended with use of long-term phenothiazines. Baseline and periodic slit-lamp examinations are also recommended for quetiapine-treated patients because of cataract development and lenticular changes in animal studies. 

The great majority of untreated galactosemic subjects who survive more than a few weeks develop lenticular cataracts. These first appear as a faint milkiness of the anterior capsule of the lens between the fourth and eighth week. Opacity of the lens increases rapidly unless the infant is fed a galactose-free diet. On such a diet, early cataracts regress but rarely vanish completely, though in the best cases vision is little affected (B16, B19, H10, K13, W4). Amiodarone-induced lens opacities have also been reported. Fine anterior subscapular lens deposits occur in approximately 50% of patients taking amiodarone in moderate to high dosages (600 to 800 mg daily) after 6 to 18 months of treatment.The deposits first appear as small golden brown or white-yellow punctate opacities located just below the anterior lens capsule. Unlike the lenticular deposits associated with chlorproma2ine therapy, which develop before corneal changes, the lens opacities... 

The lenticular changes associated with chlorpromazine have been described to occur in five stages from fine dotlike opacities on the anterior lens surfece, through a stellate pattern in the anterior subcapsular region (Figure 35-4) and finally to a central, pearl-like, opaque mass surrounded by smaller clumps of pigment (see Table 53-4). 

In animal study it was reported that 89% of the mice fed PPD developed lenticular changes indicating that PPD has cataractogenous effects, which are related to the duration, amount and individual sensitivity [49]. It was concluded that PPD is potentially toxic to human lens. Exophthalmia and permanent blindness due to optic nerve atrophy following PPD poisoning were reported [6]. Using a patch test to determine PPD phototoxicity, it was proved that PPD could cause a phototoxic reaction and photoallergy [50- 51]. 

Oral administration of 1 g kg day in rabbits leads to lenticular changes, initially observed as swelling in the peripheral portion of the lens. Within 2 weeks, the whole lens is affected with mature cataract. The biochemical basis for cataract has been shown to be related to a liver metabolite of naphthalene, l,2-dihydro-l,2-dihydoxynaphthalene. 

Not discussed here, but also equally feasible is the calculation of the equilibrium profiles of sessile and pendent lenticular configurations—for example, drops of an immiscible liquid floating on an interface (like oil on water) form a sessile lens as illustrated in Fig. 

Because the cataractous condition of the lens is known to be associated with a very low ascorbic acid concentration of the tissue or with a complete absence of ascorbic acid, much attention has been given to the variation with age in the ascorbic acid content of the lens. Since material from normal human subjects has been available only to a limited extent, most of the investigations on the ascorbic acid values in lenticular tissue have been carried out on animal samples.
