Along with tomato, tobacco forms a sizeable chunk of the diet of the tobacco hornworm Manduca sexta, and escapes harm by binding the nicotine. The cigarette beetle, Lasioderma serricome, appears to excrete nicotine and is unharmed by it. [Pg.367]
