Temporal sequence of OH-LIF measurements captures a localized extinction event in a turbulent nonpremixed CH4/H2/N2 jet flame (Re 20,000) as a vortex perturbs the reaction zone. The time between frames is 125 ps. The velocity field from PIV measurements is superimposed on the second frame and has the mean vertical velocity of 9m/s subtracted. (From Hult, J. et al.. It should be noted that the high repetition rate ( 80MHz) laser may give a large deviation of nonlinear parameters from the expected values since the thermal effect may be superimposed on the Z-scan signals [16]. 

It is also feasible to measure both droplet size and velocity simultaneously with the holographic method. Such a measurement system has been developed by Murakami and Ishikawa. 65()l They used two pulse lasers of different wavelengths to record two holograms on two different films, separated by an appropriate time interval. The displacements of moving particles were measured on a superimposed picture of the two films to determine the velocities of the particles. 

Provided that fluid motion is uniform in the illuminated region of the suspension, then similar information may also be extracted by analysis of laser light scattering from particles undergoing electrophoretic motion, that is migratory motion in an electric field, superimposed on that motion. 

In a general way, when the radiation from two laser beams with frequencies (oi and (02 are superimposed in a medium with a sufficiently large nonlinear part of the susceptibility, each atom is induced to undergo forced oscillations and generates... 

A disadvantage may be the existence of many spontaneous lines from the gas discharge in gas lasers, or the pumped light from the flashlamp in solid state lasers which is superimposed upon the laser light. 

To locate the position of the moving mirror with great precision, we superimpose in the apparatus a laser source of monochromatic radiation (v = 15 800 cm-1), which permits a computer to pick up a point of the interferogram each time the laser light is extinguished.
