Laser alignment There are two methods for ahgning the laser, mirror, and photodiode for all modes except STM, since STM does not use a laser. The first method uses a high-powered monocular magnifier to observe the laser spot s position on the cantilever. The second method uses a strip of paper to observe the laser s position. The choice of method is largely a matter of personal preference.
