L-Erythrose diacetamide

Hockett, Deulofeu and Deferrari have obtained valuable confirmatory evidence for Isbell and Frush s mechanism by treating tetra-O-acetyl-L-arabononitrile with ethanolic ammonia in which some of the nitrogen atoms were N in the presence of excess acetamide having normal nitrogen atoms only. The proportion of in the resulting L-erythrose diacetamide was practically the same as in the original ammonia. Had any condensation with acetamide occurred, a lower proportion of N would have been present in the product. [Pg.123]
