Know thyself

Know thyself. Keep track of the kinds of errors you typically make. Common spelling errors can be caught by spell check if you add the word or words to the spell check... 

Literature, music and art are the first and most sensitive spheres in which this spiritual revolution makes itself felt[ ] they turn away from the soulless life of the present, towards those substances and ideas which give free scope to the non-material strivings of the soul. An initiate in the mysteries of alchemy who did not recognize the statement Know Thyself was not an alchemist. Alchemists who did not know where to start their chemistry were the same as Rosicrucians who could not find their Order. They were simply initiates who had not yet properly found and accepted themselves, and got on with life. 

Every initiate of the Eleusian Mysteries was also required to pass through a love-right with the mermaid Love Goddess.She would hold a round mirror and golden comb. The mirror stands for know thyself, a maxim attributed to the Egyptian Pharaoh Sesostris I and later to Socrates. It reflects one s past and seeks motives of hope in virtue for the future. 

Know thyself. It is critical, once and for all, as individuals and business owners, that we rid ourselves of the belief that an amount of money reflects our self-worth or value as a human being. If you are starting a business from this premise, your foundation will always be shaky and you will nm the risk of losing perspective during negotiations and losing opportunities because you lack the ability to be truly objective. 

At the moment, the majority of the research aimed at trying better to understand this second level problem has been empirical, within domain, often within an organisation, and analytic. In other words, it tends to involve introspective analysis, possibly backed up by performance measures of varying objectivity and statistical validity. This is by no means intended as a criticism. It is certainly a first step to organisationally and culturally "knowing thyself". But remember Byron ...
