Kinetic studies of cell

The metabolic activity of the insulin stimulated cell is progressively decreased as the Na content of the incubating medium is decreased. This fact speaks in favor of a direct link between Na concentration and glucose transport in the isolated fat celj. of mice. Moreover, kinetic studies of cells incubated in low Na media, show a definite decrease in the maximal velocity of the glucose uptake without alteration of the calculated Km.
