Kinematic coagulation

Kinematic coagulation The scavenging of small particles by large particles, which increases the speed of the larger particles by differentia] settlement, such as in rain drops or from spray nozzles. [Pg.1453]

The coagulation rate was related to the projected area of the drop d oc The relation separates the effects of the particle diameter, concentration and the rate of shear. When the other variables are constant, the coagulation time increases with particle diameter following the Ostwald ripening kinematics. It decreases with nearly a cube of concentration and with a square of the shear rate. [Pg.593]
