James Bond Theme

In From Russia With Love, Bany expanded on his woik arranging Norman s James Bond Theme by creating other signature melodies, such as his own 007 Theme that would be reused in later movies. Thus, not only was one composer s style made a part of the series mythos, but a catalogue of themes was established that would help provide continuity to the Bond films, whomever the lead actor might be.

Ever since John Barry first started working on the Bond series by arranging Monty Norman s James Bond Theme for Dr. No, no one had any doubt that the composer was an ideal addition for the series. Bany was invited back for the next six movies in which he created both songs and scores that defined a decade s worth of influential movie music. In an era when songs were pasted into pictures only for added publicity, usually going at odds with the score which was written by a film composer, Barry... 

Given the moral ambiguities inherent in utilizing a James Bond theme, many Christians have shunned 007 totally. They have done so usually not beeause of rejecting spies and spy ageneies, but because they eschew fiction—either the geme per se, or the graphie sex and violence in it. 

S LONG AS I can remember, I ve always wanted to be James Bond— ever since I saw Dr No as a little boy. My mother didn t want me to be James Bond—not at that age, anyway. She wanted me to be a pianist. One of the first things I tried to play at the piano was— guess what—the James Bond Theme. When I chose a different keyboard and became a writer and translator (of Bond novels, and others), I interrupted a long line of musicians in my family. I chose to translate Bond novels because, if I couldn t actually be James Bond, at least for Italian readers my name would be somehow associated with 007.
