J-walking

While J-walking has proved to be useful for many applications, the need for a series of large external distributions limits its application to many-body systems having modest numbers of particles. The needed configurations for J-walking can require a prohibitively large portion of both computer memory and disk space. In the next section we describe another approach that obviates the need for external distributions. [Pg.30]

Many additional search methods have been devised in addition to the basic three just discussed. A few of them are outhned below. Note that whereas some methods, such as parallel tempering and J-walking, are improved or speciahzed versions of the basic tech-... [Pg.74]

In J-walking [20] the periodic MC trial probability for a simulation at temperature T is taken to be a Boltzmann distribution at a high temperature, Tj ( 3j = IkTj), The jumping temperature, 7), is sufficiently high that the Metropolois walk can be assumed to be ergodic. This results in the acceptance probability. [Pg.76]
