Observational studies Ivermectin reduces the prevalence of onchocercal skin disease and by reducing microfilaridermia it reduces transmission by black flies. Lx)ng-term compliance with ivermectin by aU eligible community members in onchocerdasis-endemic areas is critical if onchocerciasis is to be eliminated. In a study of adherence to annual treatment with ivermectin and its perceived benefit in onchocerdasis-endemic villages registers of community-direded distributors of ivermectin for onchocerciasis from 2000 to 2005 were reviewed, in order to identify people who were highly and poorly adherent to ivermectin treatment [12 ]. Adherence was termed high if a person took annual ivermectin at least four out of six times and poor if it was taken... 

Observational studies The use of oral ivermectin has been evaluated in eight Egyptian patients with crusted scabies who took a single oral dose of ivermectin 200 micrograms/ kg and were re-examined at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks [10 ]. A second dose of ivermectin was given if there was treatment failure at the end of the second week, and a third dose... 

The effect of heating on aqueous solutions of ivermectin is difficult to study due to the very low solubility of the compound in water. Thus, the stability of ivermectin has been only investigated on incurred tissue samples. When a series of incurred pig and cattle muscle and liver samples and salmon muscle samples were subjected to various cooking processes, some loss of ivermectin was observed but the loss was associated with the leakage of the fat from the tissue samples... 

The efficacy of ivermectin for human onchocerciasis was established in the 1980s and is summarized in this chapter briefly. Clinical study of ivermectin in human strongyloidiasis has not yet been completed. Here we describe the efficacy of ivermectin for human strongyloidiasis as observed in our institution during the past decade. Furthermore, we would like to describe the combination therapy with ivermectin and albendazole for bancroftian filariasis and also the efficacy of ivermectin in the treatment of human scabies. 

In our clinical use of ivermectin, more than 400 patients were studied. Administration was discontinued in only 2 patients due to liver dysfunction. Few subjective symptoms that were clinically problematic were observed. Thus, the rate of eradication obtained with ivermectin was excellent, and its incidences of adverse effects and liver dysfunction were low and their severity was mild.
