Abstract New geological investigations in the c. 3.7-3.8Ga Isua Greenstone Belt in West Greenland have revealed that the belt comprises a number of separate structural domains. [Pg.329]

A very early age was established for the Isua Greenstone Belt by Moorbath et al. (1973), who calculated a Pb-Pb whole-rock isochron age for the Isua iron formation of 3760 70Ma. Subsequent studies using Sm-Nd, Rb-Sr and Pb-Pb whole-rock isochrons, and conventional and single-zircon U-Pb ages all confirm an age >3.7 Ga (Moorbath et al. 1977, 1986,1997 Nut-man et al. 1997 Frei et al. 1999) and some parts of the greenstone belt may be as old as 3.9 Ga (Frei Rosing 2001). [Pg.329]
