Isothermal reactors ethylene glycol

SE.13 Propylene reacts with water to produce ethylene glycol. A reactant with excess water is introduced into a PFR at 27° C and at a rate of 5L/min with concentration of 1 mol/L. The reaction rate constant is = 1.69 x 10 exp (-41,800/RT)(min ), E (J/mol). The reactor is adiabatic, but the maximum temperature cannot exceed a value of 400 K, then it operates isothermally until the final conversion of 90%. Is it possible to set the temperature at 300°C Explain your answer. What would the temperature be if the conversion was half the output of the reactor Calculate the volumes of adiabatic and isothermal sections of the system. [Pg.489]
