10 Reaction of organometallic reagents with aldehydes and ketones 

We begin by examining the similarities and differences between two broad classes of carbonyl compounds. We will then spend the remainder of Chapter 20 on reactions that are especially important in organic synthesis. Chapters 21 and 22 present specific reactions that occur at the carbonyl carbon, and Chapters 23 and 24 concentrate on reactions occurring at the a carbon to the carbonyl group.
