Intramolecular ring-forming reaction

The first cases of an asymmetric Heck reaction were reported in 1989 by Shi-basaki et al. [68] and Overman et al. [69]. The authors selected suitable substrates, choosing intramolecular ring forming reactions. 

Prediction of the entropy of cydization for the gaussian chain molecular model by Jacobson and Stockmayer [21] could relate rate and equilibrium constants of intramolecular ring-forming reactions to their analogous intermolecular counterparts. Their theory has later been refined [22, 23] as it provides a good test for statistical-mechanical treatments of chain molecules.
