Interferometry rapid scan

This rapid quantitative scan of corrosion could then be supplemented by the introduction of a simultaneous examination of the surface by two optical means. There is no doubt that ordinary optical microscopy with magnifications at 500 times or so, and the involvement of a microscope with an immersion eyepiece can be of interest in finding out what happens in the more violent corrosion reactions. Interferometry may be used to gj.ve an idea as to when a surface is retreating by a rate of say 100 A per hour. [Pg.29]
