Inter-library loan

Finally, as editors we wish to thank all our contributors for their work, for their patience in sometimes waiting interminably for editorial comment, and for their cooperation at all times. We specially wish to record our appreciation of the work of Alec Campbell (1917-1999) Chapter 3 reflects his deep engagement with the chemical literature to the time of his death. We are very grateful to the Open University for travel support, for a most generous use of Inter Library Loans and for funding for several years the considerable costs of the computerized literature survey. To individual members of the Library staff our gratitude is immense. [Pg.256]

Your department might be able to supply reprint request postcards to be sent to the designated author of a paper. This is an unreliable method of obtaining a copy because it may take some time (allow at least 1-3 months ) and some requests will not receive a reply. Taking into account the waste involved in postage and printing, it is probably best simply to photocopy or send for a copy via inter-library loan. [Pg.319]

Most libraries provide a variety of services which are important to note. One of the most useful is that of inter-library loans, by which material which is not held in one library can be borrowed from another for use on the premises. Photocopies can also be made at moderate charges of articles in journals, either in the form of full-size copies or on microfilm. A translation service is a feature of some libraries by which the library itself will make a translation or else supply names and addresses of qualified translators. [Pg.25]

What follows is exceptionally intriguing. While Kelly et al. were researching who actually was the first to report standard additions, they naturally wanted to read the authoritative work of Hohn and through an inter-library loan, the authors received a copy of the book, unexpectedly from the University of Washington (this is the university where the authors Chow and Thompson reside) in Seattle. The copy of Hohn s book stiU retained the circulation card (this is stamped when you take a book out from the library) inside the back cover and date-due slip this is shown in Fig. B.IO. [Pg.197]
