The mica experiments allow one also to measure the refractive index of the gap separating the mica sheets, and hence to estimate directly the amount adsorbed during the force experiments themselves.In these experiments the adsorbance of the PS-X was evaluated (from the refractive index data) as 3 0.5 mg/m. Cytochrome Cj contains a c-type haem as prosthetic group in its wedge-shaped N-terminal domain located in the inter-membrane space.
