Intensity acene

The low binding energy structures in the valence band of the polymers are broad, less structured and of low intensity. Nevertheless, from these data it is possible to extract valuable informations on the band gap (between the valence and conduction bands) and the work function of the polymers. These properties are relevant to understand e.g. the conductivity and adhesion of commercial polymers. Data are available on model compounds, alkanes ( 8), benzene (1 9) and other acenes ( 0), polyphenyl (21) and other polymers (1, 48). [Pg.196]

It is well known that the acridine long-wavelength absorption band in the region 300-400 nm with a maximum at 354 mn is a superposition of three bands two acene n-n and bands (according to the Platt classification) [54] and a low-intensity n-n band due to electron transfer from the lone electron pair of the nitrogen atom. The band represents the HOMO LUMO transition, and Z ,... [Pg.254]
