Intensely scattering optically active media

In conclusion, we have developed a Monte Carlo simulation in order to obtain the intensity correlation function in the multiple scattering regime in a magneto-optically active medium. For the diffusion regime, the results predicted by the simple stochastic theory are qualitatively verified. In the intermediate regime, the correlation function can be described by the one-dimensional random walk model, which explains the origin of the unexpected oscillations of the correlation function. [Pg.180]

Estimate the intensity of Raman radiation emerging out of the endface of an optical fiber of 100 m length and 0.1 mm 0, filled with a Raman-active medium with a molecular density Nt = 10 cm and a Raman scattering cross section of < R = 10 ° cm, if the laser radiation (1 W) and the Raman light are both kept inside the fiber by total internal reflection. [Pg.182]

In this paper we will consider the approach towards a pure diffusive regime when incident linear polarized light is multiply scattered by a magneto-optically active random medium. Motivated by recent experiments we are interested in the intensity along the jc-axis where E is the electric field as a function of the magnetic field B, The... [Pg.178]
