Information provision ethics

For children, most ethics committees agree that provision of written informed consent by a parent or guardian is acceptable. If the childis of sufficient age, then his or her concurrence may also be sought although this is not sufficient evidence of informed consent, the refusal to provide concurrence by a child that is likely to be competent to understand the clinical trial conditions should be sufficient to exclude the child from a study. 

The ethical provisions of the Declaration of Helsinki still apply, and informed consent (which need not necessarily be in writing) have been obtained, i.e. the patient is fully informed of the unusual drug usage. 

You can also find wisdom relative to your work outside your organization. Potential advisors include professional colleagues, parents, religious leaders, and former professors and other teachers. However, in contemplating seeking external advice on internal matters, be careful to not violate ethical provisions or confidentiality requirements such as revealing confidential information about a client to a third party in such a way as to violate client confidentiality requirements. For example, the NSPE Code of Ethics in Section II-l-c states that Engineers shall not reveal facts, data, or information without the prior consent of the client or employer except as authorized or required by law or this Code. ...
