There is a large number of heteroaromatic coupling components of very different structural types. l-Aryl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones have been widely used for yellow and orange monoazo dyes since the end of the 19th century. Other types have become important as a source of new industrially produced dyes in the last two decades. In reviews on industrial aspects (e.g., Schwander, 1982) these coupling components are classified not on the basis of their structures, but from the viewpoint of what is important for tinctorial properties of the dyes obtained with these types of coupling components. Here we will use a structural approach to systematization.

Using both space flight and ground-based experiments, researchers throughout the nation, as well as international partners, are working together to benefit economic, socitil and industrial aspects of life for the United States and the entire Earth. Ten U S. universities, designated by NASA as "Commercial Space Centers." share these space advancements with U.S. industry to create new commercial products, applications and processes. 

Since 1961, the industrial importance of the hydroformylation reaction has been threatened by newer processes (19) such as the Ziegler polymerization of ethylene, the Wacker process, and the direct oxidation of petroleum (153). The industrial aspects of the Oxo reaction were reviewed in 1965 when the world production capacity for Oxo products was estimated at 0.5 million tons per year (39). 

A review3 with 69 references was published in 1979 by Katzer and Sivasubramanian where the industrial aspect from a North American economic point of view has been emphasized. Shah and Cronauer4 and Gavin68d have reviewed the O, N, and S removal reactions in coal liquefaction, where the part concerning N removal was elegantly summarized. However a more fundamental examination emphasizing the mechanistic and kinetic aspects of the reaction seems necessary, because much work on these aspects has been described in the literature since 1979. Economic and industrial aspects will however also be reviewed. 

An autobiography of the distinguished sugar chemist R. U. Lemieux has appeared,237 and also an account of industrial aspects of sugar chemistry in Louisiana.238...
