Incident, defined

The main purpose of including this indicator is to ascertain whether the company is prepared to tell the bad news as well as the good news. It basically covers lack of compliance with legislation and regulations, e.g. environmental incidents, defined as any reportable permit non-compliance or reportable release. There is also a financial implication because a level of non-compliance will normally result in fines. [Pg.16]

Expressed as incidence of lesions/% by weight of fatty acid in test oil. Incidence defined as no. of rats affected to no. of rats examined. [Pg.453]

The reflectivity R of a plane interface between two regions with complex refractive indices i = n[ — iK and ni = n — iiC2 can be calculated from Fresnel s formulas [129]. It depends on the angle of incidence a and on the direction of polarization. For the polarization component with the electric field vector E parallel to the plane of incidence (defined by the incident and the reflected beam), the reflectivity is... [Pg.174]

To illustrate the above statements, consider, for example, the arrangement as depicted in Figure 6.9. For a given angle of incidence (defined by 0) and a director axis orientation (defined by 4)), the effective refractive index as seen by the extraordinary ray is given by Equation (6.2b),... [Pg.140]
