A new Chapter 4, Important Reaction Archetypes, was added so that the main mechanistic reaction types that form the core of an organic course are emphasized first. This chapter shows the problem space for each archetype and how reactant structure influences the favored route. Electron flow paths are introduced gradually with these reaction archetypes. The rule is used for deciding reasonable reaction energetics.
