Hydroxylamine test for

A qualitative test used for nitriles is similar to the hydroxylamine test for esters (Sec. 25.16A). Nitriles, as well as amides, typically give a colored solution on treatment with hydroxylamine and ferric chloride (Eq. 25.65).
