Hydrolytic Stability and Water Absorption

Water absorption represents the tendency of the materials to absorb moisture. Absorption of moisture usually results in changes in electrical and mechanical properties and also in physical dimensions. The ratings are based on the weight gain [Pg.140]

It is shown in Table 5.2 that water absorptions range from 0.5-1.2% (poor), for example, PA 6,6,10 and 6,11, to below 0.02% (excellent), for example, HDPE, PTFE and other fluorinated polymers. [Pg.140]

Water uptake studies have also been carried out on PAll [56] and PI [57] (see also Table 5.2). For both these the polymers water absorption was about 0.3%. [Pg.140]
