Hydrogen Peroxide by Potassium Permanganate

It is surely more than merely probable that very diverse types and stages of decomposition exist, just as there are also very different types of bonding and relationship. What repels me from all chemical theories is that there is still no boundary line fixed between normal chemical operations and the hyperchemical operations of free nature. How do the countless plant juices arise from rain water Horseradish alongside the water parsnip And countless others as well. Are these merely decompositions of water Where also then do the solid parts originate  [Pg.88]

And if, in the end, different forms of air are created from water, who will assure me that this does not occur through hyperchemical operations  [Pg.88]

The reaction is extremely violent. A narrow-necked flask is not suitable Safety glasses must be worn. The 30 % H2O2 solution is highly corrosive, so that all contact with the skin and eyes must be avoided. If contact does occur the affected areas must be washed under a stream of tap water for at least 10 minutes. [Pg.88]

4-Liter flat-bottomed flask with a wide neck, 150-mL beaker, spatula, protective gloves, safety glasses. [Pg.88]

100 mL of 30 % hydrogen peroxide are placed in the flat-bottomed flask. When 0.2 g of solid KMn04 are added there is a violent reaction, in which a large amount of water vapor and oxygen is formed in the flask. [Pg.89]
