The principal interest of the acid salts describedin this review is that many of them, those of Type A, contain some of the shortest known hydrogen bonds between oxygen atoms. A tentative discussion of these short bonds within the framework of hydrogen bond theory may be permissible. To facilitate such discussion, the backgroimd wiU be sketched. Detailed, and more authoritative, accounts will be found elsewhere (87, 88, 89). 

Bergbreiter " synthesized smart phosphine ligands 26 and 27 (Figure 6) from an ethylene oxide-propylene oxide-ethylene oxide triblock co-polymer that possesses a property termed inverse temperature-dependent solubility. This means that at low temperature, the phosphines and their rhodium complexes are soluble in water through the formation of hydrogen bonds between oxygen atoms and water molecules, but, on heating above the critical-temperature cloud...

In crystal phase Nylon 11 molecules are packed in sheets with hydrogen bonds between oxygen atoms and NH groups of neighboring chains, and dipole moments of Nylon 11 chains are aligned. The piezoelectric and pyroelectric coefficients of Nylon 11 are smaller than those for PVF2 (see Table 48.4 for comparison).
