Hydrogen atoms optical pumping

Omeprazole (Fig. 2), pantoprazole, and lansoprazole are proton pump inhibitors used for hydrogen atom hypersecretory disorders of the stomach. Most chiral drugs used clinically possess a chiral carbon atom. Rather than a chiral carbon atom, each of these drugs possesses a tricoordinated mono-oxidized sulfur atom that forms a pyramidal optically active center of asymmetry.
