Hydrogels solute permeability properties

An even more drastic effect is obtained with polymeric ionic liquids when exposed to liquids (David, 2011). The system goes from porous to hydrogel and vice versa upon exposure to organic solvents and water, respectively, and causes the complete closure of the pores. The physicochemical properties of polymeric ionic liquids are also strongly affected by the anion exchange reaction, which allows controlling their permeability to gases by exposure to different ion solutions. 

In order to determine the type of material, the properties of the desired gel, and the manufacturing conditions needed, hydrogel preparation conditions, such as the degree of saponification and polymerization, concentration of the aqueous solution, and irradiation doses of the y-ray, were varied. Then the relationship between the structure and properties was evaluated by the swelling ratio, viscosity or elasticity, inlhired spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, permeability of materials into the gel, and refiactive index. A comparison of the properties of this created gel with those of a domestic rabbit s vitreous materials demonstrated that our synthesis was successful. The obtained gel was as transparent as albumen and fluidity permitted injection.
