Benzaldehydes. A soln. of ceric ammonium nitrate in aq. 50%-acetic acid added to p-methoxybenzyl alcohol, warmed a few min. on a steam bath if necessary, and the product isolated when the orange color has turned pale yellow -> p-methoxybenzaldehyde.
