How to prepare a sample for NMR spectroscopy

Make sure that your compound is free om water and solvent (p. 39) -

Xap the NMR tube with thelcorrect-size tu e cap, making sure that it. is correctly fitted to prevent oscillation when the tube is spinning in the spectro meterf.,Make sure that the cap is fitted correctly so that It will not fallroff wrhen the tube is in the spectrometer. - 3 -  

These normally cover the range between 5 = 0 and 10 ppm but the range is increased to 5=15 ppm when acidic protons are present in the molecule. The H-NMR spectrum of a molecule gives three key pieces of information about the structure of a molecule  

Chemical shift (5) the peak positions indicate the chemical (magnetic) environment of the protons, i.e. different protons in the molecule have different chemical shifts.
