As was stated earlier, a A,7/298 value of 131 kJ moP can be estimated for HSSS . From that the HS-SS BDE is found to be 140 kJ moP. This is much larger than the S-O BDEs in the analogous HSOO and CH3SOO radicals, which were seen above to be 32 and 49 kJ moP, repectively. In totally oxygenated ROOO radicals the corresponding 0-0 bonding is either negligible or at best much weaker, since in water HOOO has a half life of 6 ps with respect to formation of OH and O2 [54]. [Pg.40]
