Homoleptic ytterbium complexes

A marked difference in reactivity is observed with the smaller ytterbium ion. Even if an excess of the ligand is used, ytterbium trichloride reacts with Li[Me2Si(OfBu)(NrBu)] selectively in a 1 2 molar ratio to give a high yield of the disubstituted product 66o (Eq. 27, Fig. 21) [78].
