Homogeneous nucleation from the bulk melt under elongational flow

5 HOMOGENEOUS NUCLEATION FROM THE BULK MELT UNDER ELONGATIONAL FLOW [Pg.139]

When the elongational strain rate e becomes larger than a critical value (e ), the crystallization behavior, structure, and physical properties change discontinu-ously. In the case of s larger than e, we obtain a morphology we call nano-oriented crystals (NOCs). The NOCs show high crystallinity (nearly equal to unity) and ultrahigh performance. [Pg.139]

Compliances by means of a tensile tester. We evaluate toughness semi-quantitatively by repetition of folding along either the MD or TD direction. We perform a thermal resistance by using a hot stage and POM. We observe the lateral length of the sample along the MD and TD, Zmd and Ztd, respectively. We define the heatproof temperature (T ) as the temperature where the ZZZo shrinks or expands more than 3% with the increase of T. We evaluate the transparency by the haze test. We define the haze for sheets of 0.3 mm thickness. See References [32] for the details. [Pg.139]
