Homoatomic Tellurium Anions

Some examples of the unique behaviour of tellurium polyanions are found in the compounds RbTcg, MTes (M = Li, Na), [Cr(en)3]Te6, [K(15-crown-5)2]2Tes, [Et4N]2Tci2 and the caesium salts Cs2Tei3, Cs4Te28 and [Pg.297]

A comparison of the structures of the series Teg ( = 1, 2, 3) is informative. The monoanion Teg in RbTeg, is comprised of two-dimensional oo[Teg ] sheets separated by Rb cations. The sheets are made up of rows of Teg rings (in the chair conformation with Te-Te bond lengths of 2.78 to 3.20 A) that are bonded to other rows of Teg rings through four of the Te atoms [ 7(Te-Te) = 3.21 A]. In addition, the Teg rings within a row interact through weak Te Te contacts of [Pg.297]
